Who Am I?
I is not I in this case. I is you but refers to a question I have asked myself over the years. Who am I? Obviously, I am one who knows a bit about building websites and I mention this because I’ve done it entirely on my own. It is called, “Dogged Persistence,” with no let up until I get the phase of coding I am seeking to learn.
This is but a small, personal example of what I am asking you to ask yourselves and I don’t write this to make myself look good. I am far too old to look good. Way too far old to look good! Ten years ago I looked distinguished now the word is extinguished.
It is good to know what you, as a singular person, are rather than what relationships, or others say you are or try to understand who you are to be proper. Good and bad have many conotations and branches of acceptance so some are bad to some and others are good to some but not everyone agrees. It is up to you. Are you what you think you are due to what others have said? Or, are you actually who you think you are on the scale of personal acceptance? Don’t worry, there is wiggle room.
We go through life hearing what others think or, worse, trying to guess what others think and if you want to fit in with one group or another you have to take up the mantle of their “philosophy” to join and feel good about yourself.
I gave that nonsense up long ago. I am what I am and flawed is the deciding factor which is why I choose to not hurt others unless absolutely necessary. Nobody cares who I am, granted, but it behooves one to try casting off the philosophy of other humans to find out where you are so you can figure out who you are. It also saves you from being a hypocrite because you claim what others think without actually believing them, when the chips are down.
Knowing yourself saves a ton of disappoinment which is always the main thrust of human interaction. And, this applies to all of each and every nation because, after politics, borders, and prejudice we are all human beings. That is the way it should be, don’t you think?
